Typhoon is composed of dancers who have diverse backgrounds and a variety of interests, who come from various parts of the United States and the world. About half of the dancers have had prior experiences in the performing arts, including Chinese dance, classical Western dance, modern dance, and gymnastics. Dancers without previous experience join out of interest, and their passion and dedication are more than enough to guarantee their success as well as the success of the group.

Membership is open to all undergraduates, regardless of previous experience or skill level, and the level of involvement is entirely self-regulated.Student instructors are responsible for choreographing and teaching productions to regular members.
